Kioxia and Sandisk have announced plans to invest more than $31 billion by 2032 in Japan to develop advanced memory technologies, including a new NAND 10th-generation manufacturing facility. These investments aim to support the growing demand for memory in large-scale AI systems, which require extensive storage for models, data, and cache. Concurrently, SK Hynix has initiated construction of a high-bandwidth memory (HBM) factory in Indiana, with an investment of approximately $4 billion. Supported by the CHIPS Act, this project is expected to create thousands of jobs and bolster the US's semiconductor manufacturing capacity. These substantial investments reflect the increasing importance of memory solutions in AI development and the industry's efforts to expand production capabilities to meet future demands.
