Anthropic Expands Support for Scientific Researchers with New Subscription Programs
Anthropic is enhancing its support for the scientific community by expanding access to its AI systems, including free and discounted subscriptions, and increasing research credits across various scientific fields.

Anthropic, an AI safety and research company, is increasing its efforts to support scientific research by expanding access to its AI systems, notably Claude. The company launched Claude Science in June, a product integrating essential research tools, producing auditable artifacts, and offering flexible computing resources. Building on this, Anthropic is now opening 10,000 free and discounted seats for scientists worldwide through its new Claude team plan for scientists, with standard seats free and premium seats available at $15 per month. The company plans to extend this program beyond the initial 10,000 seats in the coming months.
In addition to subscriptions, Anthropic is broadening its AI for Science program, which provides free credits to researchers working on high-impact scientific projects. Previously focused on biological sciences, the program now aims to support researchers across other fields, including those engaged in compute-heavy research such as progress on the Riemann zeta function and protein design.
Researchers interested in the Claude team plan for scientists must be principal investigators or equivalent at academic or nonprofit institutions. Verified researchers can add lab members to their plan and apply for additional credits up to $50,000 per project through the AI for Science program. Currently, biology and chemistry researchers are limited to Opus-class models, with Claude Fable models restricted from professional biology and drug development queries due to dual-use risks. Anthropic is collaborating with the US government to establish access to Mythos-class models for life sciences research, with initial participants enrolled and more access anticipated soon.
The expansion aims to accelerate scientific discovery by providing broader access to advanced AI tools and resources for researchers across multiple disciplines.
