US crude oil inventories experienced a substantial weekly rise of 17.4 million barrels, reaching a total of 424.4 million barrels. This increase is the largest recorded since January 2023 and significantly exceeds analysts' forecasts. The rise in inventories suggests a slowdown in demand, which could exert downward pressure on oil prices. Concurrently, the International Energy Agency has revised downward its global demand forecast for oil in 2026 by 1.6 million barrels per day. As a result, Brent crude has fallen to approximately $88 per barrel, and WTI has declined to around $82. This trend may help reduce inflationary pressures and support consumer sectors by easing energy costs.

The inventory increase indicates a potential slowdown in oil demand, which could lead to lower prices and influence global energy markets.
