Tempo has launched Tempo Earn, a product designed to allow fintech platforms to pay rewards to users holding idle stablecoins. The platform routes these rewards through Morpho vaults and tokenized money market funds, effectively placing the payment outside the stablecoin issuer, which is significant given the restrictions imposed by Section 4(a)(11) of the GENIUS Act that prohibit permitted stablecoin issuers from paying interest.

Deel, a payroll platform, is the first known deployment of Tempo Earn, with a promotional target rate of up to 4% APY for contractor wallets. This move represents an effort to expand DeFi-based reward mechanisms within the fintech ecosystem, providing a new avenue for platforms to generate and distribute yield.

The use of Morpho vaults and tokenized money market funds highlights an innovative approach to yield generation, leveraging decentralized finance protocols to bypass regulatory constraints. While the specific impact on stablecoin issuers remains to be seen, this development underscores ongoing efforts to integrate DeFi solutions into mainstream financial services.

As the product rolls out, it will be important to monitor its adoption and regulatory implications, especially considering the legal context surrounding stablecoin interest payments.
