Early Wednesday, Solana's network experienced a critical stability issue as approximately 28.83% of staked SOL became delinquent, according to Marinade Finance, a prominent staking protocol on the network. This delinquency brought the network close to losing transaction finality, a key aspect of blockchain security and reliability.

The incident affected around 90 validators, who collectively lost 333 SOL in rewards due to the delinquency. Marinade's report indicates that a significant portion of the staked tokens was impacted, which could have implications for network consensus and security.

The cause of the delinquency was linked to a routing failure confirmed by Teraswitch, which affected 12 sites in the Solana network. This routing failure disrupted the normal operation of validator nodes, leading to a large number of staked tokens becoming inactive or delinquent.

While the network has not yet fully recovered, the event underscores the importance of infrastructure resilience and the potential vulnerabilities in blockchain networks reliant on complex routing and validator operations. The Solana community and validators are likely to scrutinize the incident to prevent future occurrences and maintain network stability.
