Lyn Alden, a well-known macroeconomist and Bitcoin supporter, announced the creation of Orange Juice, an investment firm focused on acquiring and improving small to mid-sized businesses. The company plans to hold these businesses indefinitely, with a portion of their profits converted into Bitcoin, establishing a Bitcoin treasury. The firm was founded by Ego Death Capital partners Jeff Booth, Lyn Alden, Nico Lechuga, and Andi Pitt, along with Adrian Steckel and Ruben Zweiban. Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas, a long-time Bitcoin advocate who recently increased his Bitcoin holdings to 70% of his portfolio, is the anchor investor. The company has already raised $40 million and plans to pursue a public listing in the future. This move comes amid a period of volatility for Bitcoin treasuries, which have faced challenges following a market downturn that impacted the value of digital asset holdings across many companies. Despite recent setbacks, the strategy of acquiring and holding Bitcoin with corporate cash reserves remains a notable trend in the crypto ecosystem.
