The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced a Request for Information (RFI) to gather feedback on existing regulations, guidance documents, and other regulatory items that may unnecessarily restrict fintech firms from forming partnerships with federally regulated institutions. This initiative is part of the CFTC's efforts to comply with Executive Order 14405, which encourages regulatory modernization. The RFI seeks to identify which regulations could be streamlined or amended to facilitate easier application processes for eligible fintech companies. The public comment period will last 21 days after the publication in the Federal Register, with submissions accepted electronically via Regulations.gov. All comments will be publicly posted. This move aims to promote innovation and competition within the fintech sector by reducing regulatory barriers.
The initiative could lead to regulatory changes that make it easier for fintech firms to partner with regulated institutions, potentially accelerating innovation in the financial sector.
