GoDaddy, a leading domain registrar and web hosting provider serving over 20 million customers, faced significant challenges with its legacy business intelligence (BI) infrastructure. With over 5,000 dashboards and slow report load times exceeding 15 minutes, the company sought a comprehensive upgrade to improve performance and user access.

In 2023, GoDaddy's Data and Analytics team evaluated several BI solutions, ultimately choosing Amazon Quick Sight due to its native AWS integrations, cost-effective pay-as-you-go pricing, and built-in machine learning capabilities. The migration, spanning roughly two years, involved rationalizing dashboards, establishing governance frameworks, and onboarding users.

The transition resulted in a leaner, more efficient BI environment with fewer than 2,500 dashboards and over 4,298 active users by the end of 2025. A flagship example is the 'Cash Dash' financial dashboard, which now renders in under five seconds—more than ten times faster than before—and incorporates automated anomaly detection and real-time alerts, significantly enhancing operational responsiveness.

In October 2025, Amazon Quick Sight evolved into Amazon Quick, adding AI-powered features such as Quick Research, Quick Flows, and custom chat agents. GoDaddy deployed seven tailored chat agents to facilitate data access and analysis, saving approximately 6,000 hours annually. Additionally, automation of weekly business reviews via Quick Flows has automated trend analysis, saving over 1,900 hours annually.

The migration fostered a cultural shift towards democratized, data-driven decision-making, moving away from a centralized BI model. Teams now explore data independently, build custom reports, and leverage conversational AI, embedding insights directly into operational workflows.

Architecturally, GoDaddy's setup relies on Amazon Redshift for data integration, with secure single sign-on via Okta. The company has also embedded dashboards into internal tools like Hivemind and plans to extend integrations to Slack, Outlook, Jira, and Confluence, further streamlining access.

Key lessons from this transformation include the importance of governance, targeted AI adoption driven by specific team needs, embedding analytics into existing workflows, and starting with high-impact use cases to build momentum.

Looking ahead, GoDaddy continues to expand automation and AI capabilities, aiming to further reduce manual effort and enhance real-time insights, demonstrating how cloud-based analytics combined with AI can deliver substantial business value.
