AvioBook, a provider of flight and ground operations software, has developed a new analytics tool leveraging Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to enhance airline turnaround processes. The platform, called Connected Analytics, enables airline personnel to ask natural language questions about operational data, which the system then processes through specialized agents to deliver evidence-based answers.

The core challenge addressed by AvioBook was the opacity and difficulty in utilizing rich operational data captured during aircraft turnarounds. Traditionally, this data was stored as an archive, difficult to access and interpret in real-time, leading to inefficiencies and potential compliance issues.

To tackle this, AvioBook built a multi-agent architecture on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, with distinct agents tailored for airline managers and operations control center dispatchers. These agents can retrieve relevant flight events, validate delay codes, and provide insights in natural language, supporting faster and more accurate decision-making.

The system's architecture involves secure, role-specific interactions, with data stored in Amazon S3 and queried via Amazon Athena, ensuring compliance with airline security standards. The agents operate within a managed environment, maintaining conversational context and leveraging modular tools for data access.

Operational results from a European mid-size carrier demonstrated significant improvements, with over 4,000 hours of delay avoided in a season, and manual communication reduced by 124 hours. The system's ability to support faster turnaround decisions is estimated to save approximately $240,000 monthly, with potential for further savings as process compliance improves.

Looking ahead, AvioBook plans to expand Connected Analytics with proactive anomaly detection, enabling airlines to identify issues before they escalate. The modular design allows for easy addition of new data sources and roles, promising continued enhancement of airline operational efficiency.
